Vivid lights in every corner of the road, houses filled with Santas, trees and poinsettias and the whole town was snowed with the essence of Christmas; that’s the usual scenes we will witness when December fall at the town of Albuera, really goes all out when it comes to Christmas decorations. It was a Christmas display competition participated by every barangay that started years ago and still ongoing up to this date. They push it through so they’ll be renowned as the Christmas capital of Leyte.

Many people tend to visit the town because of its splendid and jaw-dropping Christmas views. Albuera is found at 15 kilometers away from the city of Ormoc. Driving along the coastal road in the cool of the evening is very enjoyable, especially upon entering the town, you’ll be welcome with the colorful lights in every side of the road and into the heart of town where you can glimpse a tall Christmas trees, parols and life-size Santa displays in every corner of the park.

One of the most visited places in Albuera is the Christmas House located at Brgy. Cambalading. Outside the house, you’ll witness a life-size Santa acting like a Tarzan, also a snowman and the nativity of Jesus Christ. While inside the house, you’ll witness a miniature Christmas village, Christmas dining and lots of Santa Claus figure wearing different costumes. The house was owned by a Filipino family who I guess is now live in the other country. The house is open to everyone for free.

So when you were in Leyte particularly by December, pay a visit the town of Albuera and experience an amazing Christmas!
